How to Control the Barking of Your Dog?
Bark Control: Helping You Get Some Peace and Quiet
It is part of your responsibility as a dog owner to make sure that your dog does not disturb your neighbors with his barking. If your dog has an annoying habit of barking incessantly, then you must make use of some measures to stop this. This is very necessary if you want to maintain the good relationship that you have with your neighbors and if you want to get some peace and quiet in your home and in your neighborhood. Now, while there are many ways that you can try to stop your dog from barking too much like distracting him or training him to answer to the "quiet" command, another way is the use of bark control devices.
Various Bark Control Devices
One of the bark control devices is the Bark Control Training collars. Training collars can help curb your dog's unnecessary barking. This is especially when he is left all by himself when you go to the office or when you go shopping. There are three kinds of these bark control collars.
1. Corrective Static Bark Control Collars. These send out a static to the skin of your dog once he barks. Because your dog will associate his barking with the static that he can feel on his neck, he will take care in barking too much.
2. Citronella Training Collars. Citronella oil is sprayed near your dog's nose once he starts barking. Because dogs don't like to be sprayed upon, he will stop barking to avoid this.
3.Ultrasonic Bark Control Collar. This emits an ultrasonic sound to your dog's ear, which you can't even hear. Because this sound is awful to your dog's ears, then he would stop his barking to be able to avoid hearing this.
If you don't want to subject your dog to the corrective measures of bark control collars, then there are other bark control devices that you can use and one of these is the Outdoor Bark Control device. This device is the one that you need if you also intend to curb the loud barking of your neighbor's dog as well. Operating at a range of 50 feet, this device works the same as the ultrasonic Bark Control Collar. As soon as a barking dog gets within the range of this device, it will give out a beep and then an ultrasonic sound is emitted. Because a dog will associate this sound with his barking, then he will stop from barking unnecessarily.
So if maintaining peace and quiet in your home and your neighborhood is paramount to you, then you should get one of these bark control devices. You will not only be helping your neighbors and yourself get some uninterrupted sleep, you will also be teaching your dog some manners by doing this.

do spray collars work on dogs?
Hi,
I have a 7mth old gsd whom runs at dogs barking he is not aggressive, he only wants to play but he has also started to run at people ( not good!) if the other dog runs at him he runs away yelping. I have been walking him with a group of other dogs trying to socialise him which he loves but i am still having problems with this barking. Somebody said try a spray collar but i don't want to make him worse, so please any advice would be gr8. I tried the ultrasonic collar but found grass! and him shaking his neck set it off so gave up
we do attend obedience class, he does not do this behaviour there!
According to the Dog Behavior Answer Book by Arden Moore ($15.00, Borders) the spray collars (citrus) can work. It is a great book for little money.
