What To Expect When Caring For A Bird - The Best Kind of Pet!
If you believe birds are captivating creatures, then we have something in common! There are many birds that make terrific pets, while some of them just need to be left out in their natural environment. There is a pet bird out there for every bird lover. There are some individuals that enjoy large birds, while other people just enjoy little canaries that sit in their cage singing pretty tunes all day. Whatever you do, you should make sure you are completely prepared to take on the responsibility of a pet. If you have any doubts about taking in a pet or you are away from your home for long periods of time, then you may want to reconsider your plans of getting a bird--or any other pet. As you read this article, you will earn what to expect when caring for a bird.
Some of those wonderful creatures are very colorful, while the others are almost humorous. If you know about the type of bird you are looking for as a pet, then you should have a perception of what to expect from your new pet. This means you will need to do a proper amount of research on the bird before you bring it home. Try to look for a basic bird guide online.
When you get this pet, as long as you are ready to take on the responsibility of having a pet, we know you are going to be very happy. This is because birds make great companions. You will find your bird willing to do a lot of the things you do. In fact, when you take a shower, you bird may even want to be there with you!
When you're eating, your bird may wish to watch you, and in many cases, they'll attempt to eat from your dinner plate. Can you believe that some birds will repeat everything you say? Some birds are so intelligent that you will fid yourself able to understand complete sentences--which actually make sense!
You should make sure you put your bird in a cage that has a lot of room. This is especially important for those birds that spend a great deal of time in their cage. Your bird is going to require plenty of room to move about. Basically, if your bird is not able to stretch his wings and flap them without hitting the sides of the cage, then the cage is too small and you should get a new one. You might also try to gather information regarding accessories for birds, so that you are better prepared to meet your bird's needs. Now that you know what to expect when caring for a bird, do you think you're ready?

do you read up on general care of your bird?
I've noticed many people on here ask very generalized questions about their birds. People, for your sake and the sake of your bird read as many books as you can about your specific species. You're birds deserve the best care and should be treated like humans, family. I praise those of you who read up on birds in general and their specific bird species they own.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! so you ride atv's eh? whatcha got? I have a yamaha kodiak 450 pretty sweet.
I couldn't of said it any better my self, I get so frustrated at some of these questions and the main ones that really make me mad are the ones
" HELP i just got my parakeet a few hours ago and it is just sitting in it's cage doing nothing" or
" help i just got my parakeet and it flies frantically when i stick my hands in the cage or runs all around the cage so i can't grab it" WELL DUHH you just yanked a parakeet out of a cage that was with at least 10 other birds of its own kind, and put it in a box or a bag( i actually brought one home in a lunch sack with holes in it, (I NEVER went back to that pet shop), and stuck in in a cage all alone and now you got ur big ole hands all up in it's space , it is scared, and doesn't know what you're trying to do to it, and since you're coming from above it MOST of the time it thinks your a predator so yea it's going to try and get away!
Those 2 right there shows the person did NO research because EVERY single website I've ever went to said When you first bring your bird home it'll need time to adjust to its new environment, and it will be scared and quiet and no you prob. won't see it eating but it actually is !
in my opinion only a very ignorant person would purchase A animal any animal doesn't even have to be a bird, and never do research on it and they know nothing at all about the animal they just went out and bought & I only feel sorry for the animal !!
I read up on Budgie Parakeets and Quaker Parrots for over a year before I bought either one, and I've got 4 Budgie parakeets now and One Quaker ( going to get another one eventually) and I still read up on them and do research on them DAILY !! AND i still learn new things every day
but i knew allot more then just the basics before i even bought mine
Most people these days just want to run out and buy the pet and then have every one and their brother tell them step by step how to take care of it , Or in simpler terms they want Spoon fed all the way through the process
