Can my budgie have a buddy?
For Christmas I got a budgie. He is super calm, never bites, and is healthy. I am sure it will take a little while for him to get used to his new home and what not but I was just wondering if he could get a friend? How long should I wait? Can you mix species in the same cage? I would sort of like to get a zebra finch or a love bird or something like that. Could I put it with my budgie?
Its best you acchieve all the taming and bonding you need with this budgie before adding another.....when you add another they will form a friendship with the other budgie and leave you out.
Do NOT add a lovebird to the cage as they are aggressive and have been known to kill budgie as well as their own kind. Same goes for the finch....you do not mix straight beaked birds with hooked beak birds.
