So You Want To Be A Dog Groomer
Well, as a groomer myself I can offer you some great advice on getting started. First and foremost you must really love dogs and when I say that, I mean you have to love them all. Groomers never know what will walk through the door next. Many dogs are sweet and lovable but that is not always the case. You have to be prepared for the ones that will not make your day easy.
There are the occasional days that I have been bitten, urinated on, and down right disliked by someone's furry brat. Although, there are many days I am surrounded by cuties that anyone would love to take home. They are the ones that make grooming fun and reassure you that you have the best job in the whole world. With that being said you still have to deal with the ones that I lovingly refer to as furry brats. It takes patients and compassion to handle a dog that is either aggressive or scared. If you have a short temper then grooming would not be the ideal job for you.
If you have allergies to dog hair grooming is not going to be your cup of tea. At the end of a long day I am usually covered in hair. It is always nice to get home and take that shower. So if you are at all bothered by pet hair stay clear of the grooming salon.
The other thing you really want to consider before choosing grooming as a career is the toll that it will take on your body. Lifting heavy dogs and bending in unnatural ways tend to come with the job. Grooming is by far the most physically demanding job that I have ever had. If you are bathing many dogs your hands will pay the price by being chapped, dry and raw. Gloves can be worn but most groomers find that they get in the way more then help. Many groomers will end up suffering form back problems and carpel tunnel. These side effects can be minimized by leaning and effectively using the proper techniques for lifting dogs and holding you shears. You may not get rich grooming dogs but you can make a nice income if you build up a good clientele.
Now that I have given you the cold hard facts about becoming a groomer let me tell you why it is the most rewarding career you may ever choose. Grooming can be exciting. As I stated before you never know what will walk through the door. If you love animals then this is a great career. You will have clients that you just absolutely adore. You will have clients that will make you laugh and smile and then you will see that you honestly do have the most awesome job in the world and none of the other stuff will matter.

Can anyone give me advice on how to care for merino sheep,kiko goats and classic llamas?
I want to get one of these animals as a pet but before I choose which one I need to know the following.. how often do they need to be wormed,vaccinated,get thier hooves trimmed,be sheared,what kind of grooming tools do they need,what other kinds of accessories do they need (collars,leads halters) how much space is needed per animal,how many do I need to have so they dont get lonely,what to feed them,how much daily and any other information I need to know will be very helpful.
All of these pets need lots of work.
Lllamas are very expensive to buy and own
Goats eat anything, and can catch foot and mouth
and sheep need shearing and are at risk of foot and mouth
