What colour carpet goes with a brown leather sofa?

Okay,
so my family and I moved house recently and there's carpet in our front room, my mum said she forgot what having carpet was like and she likes the idea of having carpet in our front room.
but what colour?
my mum said she thinks a reddish pink carpet would look nice, but i think it would look awful with a dark brown leather sofa.
the other thing is, we have a dog, so we can't really go for any creamy,biege colours.
